Charleston Shootout Final Results

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Villanova wrapped up play at the Wendy's Charleston Shootout in Charleston, S.C. in 12th place out of 15 teams in the 54-hole event in their second tournament of the spring season. As a team Villanova shot 302-299-305--906 (+42) for the entire tournament which was being held at the par-72, 6,922 yard Links at Stono Ferry. The Wildcats surged to as high as 8th place in the final round, but faltered down the stretch to finish in 12th place.

The Wildcats were led by senior Brendan Kelly (Annapolis, Md.) who shot a 72-75-72--219 (+3) which put him in a tie for twelfth place. Kelly has continued his outstanding senior campaign as this was his fourth finish in the top-20 or better in the 2010-11 season.

Rounding out the top five for the Wildcats were junior Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.)(74-76-77--227; +11), senior Conor Casey (Madison, N.J.)(79-75-77--231; +15), sophomore Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.)(77-75-79--231; +15), and sophomore Robbie Galbreath (Huntington Valley, Pa.)(79-74-85--238; +22) which placed them tied for 41st, 50th, 50th, and 67th, respectively.

Baylor took home the team championship with a 856 (-8) and Charleston Southern's Jacobo Pastor won the individual crown with a 209 (-7), barely edging the second round leader Campbell's Vaita Guillaume by one stroke.

Villanova will be back in action later this week at the USF Invitational from March 4-6 in Dade City, Fla.
