Patriot Intercollegiate Final Results

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova men's golf team concluded play on Monday afternoon at the Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton, Va. for the George Mason-hosted Patriot Intercollegiate. After shooting 298 and 300 in the first two rounds, the Wildcats shot 296 in round three for a total of 984 (+42) to finish in 12th place at the 17-team tournament.

Sophomore Lucas Trim and freshman Andy Butler led the way for the Wildcats on Monday as the two each shot even-par 71. Trim finished with a 223 total (+10) for second on the team while Butler finished one stroke behind him at 224 (+11).

Freshman Zach Egermayer and junior Luke Waggoner turned in rounds of 77 this afternoon. Egermayer concluded play with the best three-round total for `Nova at 219 (+6). Waggoner finished the tournament with rounds of 72-79-77 for a 228 (+15) total.

Senior Ted Brennan turned in a round of 81 on Monday for a 54-hole score of 245 (+32).

Freshman Will Byrne competed as an individual at the Patriot Intercollegiate and shot 81-88-83--252 (+39).

The Wildcats ranked tied for sixth with 156 pars in the tournament. Butler, a freshman from Oakmont, Pa., finished with 37 pars, tied for seventh in the 103-man field. Egermayer had nine birdies over the two days, the most on Villanova.

Egermayer's round two total of four-under 67 was tied for second at the tournament for any single round. Marshall's Clark Robinson shot the top round during Monday's final round at 66.

Missouri won the event with an 851 total while Ryan Zech finished as the individual medalist at 209, turning in a round of four-under 67 this afternoon. The 2013 winner, Marshall, finished three strokes behind Missouri for second place at 854. James Madison, Seton Hall and George Washington rounded out the top five.

Saint Joseph's tied for sixth with Fairleigh Dickinson, who climbed three spots in the final 18 holes. Drexel, Delaware and Indiana University of Pennsylvania rounded out the top 10. Longwood (892) finished two-stroke better than Villanova (894).

La Salle, Binghamton, Wagner, George Mason and St. Thomas rounded out the final places.

Villanova will take the next weekend off before returning to play at the Bank of Tennessee in Jonesborough, Tenn. from Fri., Oct. 10 until Sun., Oct. 12.
