ELVERSON, Pa. - The Villanova golf team concluded play at the Finegan Invitational in Elverson, Pa. on Monday and the Wildcats finished eighth in the 12-team event. Villanova shot 302 on Sunday and 296 on Monday for a collective tow-day score of 598 (+38).

All five men for Villanova finished within three strokes of each other.

Junior Luke Waggoner and freshman Will Byrne led the Wildcats across two rounds with totals of 149 (+9). Waggoner went 75 (+5) on Sunday and a 74 (+4) today while Byrne shot carded rounds of 76 (+6) and 73 (+3). Both finished tied for 20th individually in the 63-man invitational.

Sophomore Lucas Trim finished closely behind with rounds of 77 (+7) and 73 (+3) for a 150 (+10) total.

Freshman Andy Butler tied for 31st individually with a final card of 75-76--151 (+11).

Fellow freshman Zach Egermayer shot 76 in both rounds for a 152 (+12) two-day total.

Lafayette wont the event (570, +10) while Lafayette's Art Griffin finished as the individual medalists with two rounds of two-under par (68-68--136, -4). Hofstra (582, +22) and Wagner (582, +22) finished in a tie for second while Monmouth (585, +25) and La Salle (590, +30) rounded out the top five.

Iona (596, +36) and Rider (596, +36) finished tied for sixth ahead of Villanova (598, +38) in eighth.

Manhattan (601, +41), Niagara (609, +49), Alvernia (638, +78) and St. Francis-Brooklyn (720, +160) placed ninth through 12th respectively.

Villanova will now travel to Okatie, South Carolina for the BIG EAST Championships from Sunday, April 26 to Tuesday, April 28.
