STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Sophomore Elliot Slade (Cardiff, United Kingdom) and freshman Pearson Feagans (Dallas, Texas) each won their events at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday night. The meet at Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex was highlighted by those two victories and several personal best efforts recorded by the Wildcats, who finished in sixth place as a team. Slade was the winner in the 800 meters and Feagans came in first in the long jump.

Villanova had three of the top four finishers out of 34 total competitors in the 800 meters. Slade posted a winning time of 1:49.90 to move into second place on this year's BIG EAST performance list. Juniors Josh Lampron (Mansfield, Mass.) and Ben Malone (River Vale, N.J.) came in second and fourth, respectively. Lampron recorded a time of 1:51.22 and Malone was close on his heels in 1:51.48. To this point in the season, the Wildcats hold five of the top eight spots on the conference performance list.

Feagans had an impressive performance in the long jump and won the event with a personal best leap of 7.18 meters. That mark puts him into seventh place on the school's all-time indoor performance list in the long jump, nudging him up from a tie for 10th place previously. He is now 10th all-time on Villanova's combined indoor/outdoor long jump list. In addition to winning the long jump, Feagans scored in the triple jump with an eighth place finish and a distance of 12.95 meters.

Junior Aaron Elcock (West Chester, Pa.) and freshman Michael Morrow (Danbury, Conn.) also had strong performances in the jumps. Elcock made his collegiate debut by finishing ninth in the triple jump and establishing a new personal best mark of 12.653 meters. Morrow recorded a personal best height of 1.88 meters in the high jump and also posted a distance of 5.82 meters in the long jump. He was competing in the latter event for the first time in his young collegiate career.

Junior Harry Warnick (Fairfield, Conn.) had a career-best performance in the Mile and tallied a personal best time of 4:06.11. He lowered his previous top time of 4:07.22 -- set at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational nearly a year ago -- by more than a full second and moved into seventh place on this year's BIG EAST performance list.

The other strong performances by the Wildcats in the running events came in the sprints. Senior Donald Urschel (East Brunswick, N.J.) came in seventh in the 60 meters and eighth in the 200 meters during the meet. He posted times of 6.99 in both the preliminary heats and the final of the 60 meters, while also running the 200 meters with a time of 22.34. Senior Robert Cacace (Yonkers, N.Y.) and freshman Utsav Deshpande (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) established new personal bests in the 60 meter hurdles (9.19) and the 400 meters (51.67), respectively.

Several freshmen from the Villanova squad competed as unattached runners during the meet. The unattached group included Casey Comber (Maple Glen, Pa.) and Andrew Marston (Wayne, Pa.) placing second and eighth, respectively in the 3000 meters. Comber finished the race in 8:18.61 and Marston recorded a time of 8:24.56. Logan Wetzel (Saline, Mich.) paced a group of four unattached runners in the Mile. He finished third overall in the race with a time of 4:05.14. He was followed by Lucas Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.) in 21st place (4:18.92), while sophomore Zach Swenson (Boulder, Colo.) and Louis Vazquez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted personal best times of 4:18.99 and 4:25.45, respectively.
