NEW YORK - Villanova baseball claimed another pair of BIG EAST Weekly Awards with Chris Rotondo being named Player of the Week while Jimmy Kingsbury was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Rotondo follows Lucas Latrenta to make it back-to-back players of the week. This is the first time Villanova has ever had back-to-back players of the week, and the first time since 2007 that two different players received the award in the same season (Derek Shunk and Dan Terpak). Villanova did have a player and then pitcher go back-to-back for weekly award winners in 1990 (Dennis McCaffery and Brian Kenny)
 
Rotondo had a big week for the Wildcats both at the plate and in centerfield. In four games, the junior hit .400 (6-for-15) with an on-base percentage of .571 and a .733 slugging percentage. He plated three runs and crossed home six times as Villanova swept Bucknell, but lost to Western Michigan earlier in the week. Three of his hits went for multiple bases as he had two doubles and a triple. Rotondo delivered a two-run triple in the top of the 10th inning to secure the sweep over Bucknell on Sunday. Rotondo recorded a hit in every game to extend his season hit-streak to nine games and his reached-base streak to 12 having now reached in every game since the opener. He was also perfect in center field, with no errors during a busy weekend where he made a total of 23 putouts including a career high 10 against Bucknell on Friday.  
 
Kingsbury turned in his third consecutive quality start on Friday, going 7.0 innings and allowing just two runs and one earned run to pick up his second win of the season. He allowed six hits with five strikeouts while the Wildcats won 8-2 over Bucknell.
 
The Wildcats are back in action tomorrow with a 3:00 p.m. matchup against NJIT.
