ATLANTA, GA.-Runs were at a premium for Villanova in the series opener against Georgia State Friday in a 15-0 loss. The Wildcats drop to 1-7 while Georgia State evens up their record to 5-5 with the win.
The Panthers delivered an onslaught of 18 hits and 15 runs through nine innings against the Wildcats.
Villanova had their best chance to break the seal in the top of the first.
Chris Rotondo led off the game with a single to left and
Pat O'Neill followed up with a single of his own to advance Rotondo to third with no outs. Later in the inning, O'Neill stole second base to put two men in scoring position. Unfortunately, the heart of Villanova's lineup were unable to plate a run.
DeAngelo Abboud put Georgia State on the board in the first with an RBI single to score a runner for a 1-0 lead. The Panthers added two more runs in the second highlighted by an RBI double by Cameron Jones for a 3-0 lead.
Georgia State put a stamp on the game in the third when Dalton Pearson doubled in a run and Max Ryerson unloaded a two-run homer to stretch the lead to 6-0. Georgia State never looked back en route to a 15-0 win.

Rotondo extends his hitting streak to seven games.
After O'Neill's stolen bag, four Wildcats have now recorded a stolen base so far this season.
