O’Reilly Lands Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Honors

PHILADELPHIA – For the first time in his career, Jack O'Reilly has been named a Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area selection, as announced on Thursday.
 
O'Reilly is one of 10 student-athletes who were selected through voting conducted by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least their second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.
 
This honor marks the ninth in program history for the Wildcats with O'Reilly being the first to make the list since Chris Rotondo in 2022. In terms of academic success, O'Reilly has been lauded three previous times in his career, earning BIG EAST All-Academic Team status in each of the previous three seasons.
 
The Villanova, Pa. native wrapped up his career this season by starting in all 51 games the 'Cats played. He led the team in hits (63) and doubles (19), was tied for the most RBI (46) on the year and was second with nine home runs. At the plate, the graduate hit at a .285 clip with a .493 slugging percentage. O'Reilly cranked out a 12-game hitting streak during his final campaign. Logging 17 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI outings. He had a season-high four hits on the road for the series finale at ETSU on March 17, hitting a double and a home run with three RBI.
 
O'Reilly closes the book on his Villanova career with 184 starts in 185 appearances, landing him at 11th and tied-19th in program history, respectively. His 746 at-bats are third-most among Wildcats while he is 18th for runs (130), 13th for hits (201), fifth for doubles (48), tied-20th for homers (20) and 14th for RBI (124).
