Njoku Sidelined by Knee Surgery

Forward last saw action on Dec. 11

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Forward Nnanna Njoku (Newark, Del.) underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday. There is no timetable for his return to basketball activities.

This marks the second time in as many seasons that Njoku's season has ended prematurely due to surgery. In January 2024, Njoku underwent surgery on his right knee. He appeared in 10 games this season, averaging 9.5 minutes per outing.

Since first coming to Villanova, Njoku, 6-9, has been limited to 34 career games and seen each of the past two seasons end prematurely due to injury (a right foot injury limited him to four games in 2022-23). As a freshman, Njoku appeared in nine games as Villanova advanced to the 2022 NCAA Final Four.

"We're disappointed for Nnanna that he is dealing with another injury setback," said Villanova head coach Kyle Neptune. "He gave us quality minutes at the forward position earlier this season and we'll miss the energy he brings to the court every day. As he has before, Nnanna will bring a great attitude to his recovery and continue to take pride in doing everything he can to support his teammates and coaches."

Njoku has missed Villanova's last seven games after the injury arose. He last saw action in an 86-72 win over FDU on Dec. 11.
