INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Villanova University baseball team will continue its BIG EAST season at Butler this weekend (April 11-13) at Bulldog Park.
QUICK HITTERS
- Villanova will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to face Butler in a three-game series.
- The Wildcats enter the weekend at 17-13 and 2-1 in the BIG EAST after taking two of three games from Georgetown. Villanova's midweek clash with Penn was canceled.
- Butler stands at 11-21 after being swept by Xavier and picking up a midweek win at Evansville.
- Alec Sachais starred out of the bullpen for the Wildcats, registering back-to-back saves over a combined five scoreless innings. He was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week.
- Michael Whooley is in the midst of a six-game hit streak. He hit two home runs and four RBI in Villanova's series win over Georgetown. He earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts.
- After lefty reliever Bobby Finn had a turbulent start to the season on the mound, he has posted a 1.08 ERA and 18 strikeouts in his last nine games.

Alec Sachais has been a strong closer out of the Wildcats' bullpen all season long. The Rider transfer already has a career- and team-best five saves on the season. His ERA of 4.45, WHIP of 1.41, and 30 strikeouts all rank second on the team. Sachais recorded back-to-back saves and pitched 5.0 innings between the two wins over Georgetown (April 5-6), posting a .063 opponent batting average over the scoreless outings. He did not allow a baserunner over three full innings of work on Sunday (April 6), leading Villanova to a series-clinching win. He was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the second pitcher of the week award for the Wildcats this season.

Shortstop
Michael Whooley has been red-hot at the plate, posting a .462 batting average and a .562 on-base percentage over Villanova's last four games. He hit two home runs and drove in four runs as Villanova took two of three games against Georgetown. Whooley is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak and a 10-game on-base streak. He currently leads Villanova with 36 hits, and has already set a new career-high with six home runs on the season.
BUTLER AT A GLANCE
The Bulldogs feature two of the BIG EAST's top hitters. Jack Moroknek and Jack Bello have 55 and 50 hits this season, respectively. Both players are tied for 29th in the nation in batting average, hitting .417. Moroknek is tied for 12th in Division I in hits (55), tied for 14th in home runs (13) and tied for 36th in RBI (42). His .803 slugging percentage ranks 16th in the country. Meanwhile, Bello has been a difference-maker for the Bulldogs on both sides, pairing his strong performance at the plate with six appearances on the mound.
