Golf to Compete at People's Championship in Georgia

'Cats will be in a field of 20.

ST. SIMON'S ISLAND, Ga. — The Villanova golf team is set to play at its second tournament of the spring, heading down to St. Simon's Island, Georgia to compete at the People's Championship hosted by The Club at Sea Palms Thursday to Saturday. 

The Wildcats finished 9th Feb. 21-22 at the Savannah Intercollegiate to begin their spring slate. Villanova's highest finishers were Matt Zerfass and Ryan Pamer, who both finished tied for 25th after shooting 241 (+8).

The Event

Western Carolina will once again serve as hosts for the tournament and along with the 'Cats, will welcome Belmont, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Charleston Southern. Drexel, Marshall, Valparaiso, Murray State, Xavier, Siena, Long Island, Mount St. Mary's, Florida A&M, Samford, Winthrop, Wright State, Davidson and Providence. 

The 54-hole tournament will be played over the course of three days. Teams will bring five golfers, with four of them being scored. 

The Course

The Club at Sea Palms was designed by George Cobb in 1967, spans 6,664 yards and has a par of 71.

Villanova Lineup

Pamer once again is hitting first off the tee, fresh off a 25th place finish at the Savannah Intercollegiate. Pamer finished 39th in last season's People's Championship. 

Zerfass will hit second and is also coming off a 25th place finish. Zerfass finished 14th in the People's Championship last season. 

Vibhav Alokam is third in the lineup after shooting 227 (+11) to start the season at the Savannah Intercollegiate. Alokam finished tied for sixth in last year's People's Championship. 

Brockton English will hit next off the tee in fourth. The Drexel transfer finished tied for 28th at the Savannah Intercollegiate. 

Joshua Lavely rounds out the 'Cats lineup, entering the weekend coming off a 42nd place finish in Savannah. 

Peter Barros will golf as an individual in the tournament.
