Baseball Travels To Delaware State For Second Round Of The Liberty Bell Classic

'Cats To Face Hornets In Round Two of The Liberty Bell Classic On Tuesday

DOVER, Del. — The Villanova baseball team travels to take on Delaware State on Tuesday, April 7, at Bob Reed Field in the second round of the Liberty Bell Classic.

LAST TIME OUT
Villanova is coming off its first BIG EAST series of the season after hosting Butler this past weekend.

• The Bulldogs opened the series with an 8-6 win. Villanova fell behind early but battled back to cut the deficit to two late in the game.
• Despite the loss, Mark Gialluisi and Michael Whooley each homered, while Gialluisi, Whooley, and Brayden Leonard all recorded two RBI.
• Butler took game two with a late rally, scoring four runs in the ninth inning to secure both the win and the series.
Collin Quintano led the way with two RBI, including his seventh home run of the season and an RBI single in the sixth inning.
• The Bulldogs completed the sweep with a 10-1 victory in the series finale.
• Leonard accounted for Villanova's lone run, hitting his first home run of the season.

Brayden Leonard has been a key contributor, leading the team with a .320 batting average and 32 hits. He is the only Wildcat with 30+ hits this season and also leads the team with nine stolen bases.
Collin Quintano leads Villanova in both home runs (7) and RBI (22). Michael Whooley follows closely with four home runs and 20 RBI.
Mark Gialluisi has found his rhythm at the plate, tallying four RBI and his first home run of the season over four games last week.
Jack Kelley turned in a strong outing against Butler, striking out a season-high nine batters — the most by a Villanova pitcher this year.
