RICHMOND, Va.— The Wildcats competed in the ITA Regional Championship over the past six days.
Singles
Two Wildcats competed in the silver singles open:
Tighe Brunetti lost his first-round matchup but bounced back in his next match with a win in a tiebreaker against Bernardo Teixeira of the University of Delaware.
Josh Robinson lost in a hard-fought battle in his first-round match.
Seven Wildcats competed in the bronze singles open.:
Eitan Khromchenko leads it off with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mount St. Mary's opponent, Elliot Stevens. Khromchenko would fall in the next round in a tie breaker to Oscar Bain of Bucknell University.
Will Monahan won his first-round matchup in the third set over University of Richmond player Nick Roddy. He would fall in his next matchup against Penn State's, Harrison Janes.
Lukas choi dominated his first singles match of the day over Filippo Marangoni (Radford University) 7-5, 6-2.
Justin Frattarelli continued the winning by taking his first match in three sets over Mount St. Mary's Filipos Zachiotis. He then would fall in the next round 6-3, 6-3.
Ryan Nguyen,
Trey Fourticq, and
Cooper Gordon all fell in hard fought matches in the first round of singles play.
In the consolation bracket
Thomas Wakefield and Fourticq would both go on to pick up a win, advancing them to the next round.
Doubles
The Wildcats had two doubles teams pick up a win at the championship:
Trey Fourticq and
Thomas Wakefield won their match 8-3 over two players from Loyola University Maryland.
Josh Robinson and
Tighe Brunetti won their first match 8-4 over a doubles duo from Norfolk State University.
