VILLANOVA, Pa. – Nearly 130 Villanova student-athletes were honored on Tuesday night during the men's basketball game against Marquette for achieving a 4.0 GPA in 2025.
At the under-eight media timeout of the first half, the athletes were honored with an on-court recognition to highlight their efforts in the classroom during the last calendar year.
The rowing team had the most student-athletes recognized overall with 14 while women's soccer (12) and women's swimming and diving (11) each added double digits. Football was the men's sport with the most selections as eight earned mentions. 22 different programs were represented on the list, including multiple selections for 21 of those teams.
Rowing and women's swimming tied for the most student-athletes recognized just in the fall with seven, while two teams (field hockey and football) all followed up with six each.
Fall 2025 was a record-setting semester for Villanova Athletics as the grade point average for 585 student-athletes was a new high of 3.546. Villanova Athletics has maintained a department GPA above a 3.0 for 45 consecutive semesters spanning more than two decades, and 16 consecutive semesters surpassing a 3.3.
Each of the 24 teams posted a semester GPA above a 3.2 and 62 percent of the nearly 600 student-athletes in the department recorded a GPA above 3.5 to earn Dean's List accolades.
