Villanova Athletics is proud to present the Villanova P.A.W.S program: Providing Athletes With Support. The P.A.W.S. program helps to ensure the best quality experience for Villanova student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the playing fields. Wildcat student-athletes represent the best in athletic and academic achievements, and Villanova is proud to recognize these student leaders.

This week's P.A.W.S. honors go to the Wildcat's Courtney Mix, a junior women's basketball standout from Toledo, Ohio, and Toledo Central Catholic High School. On Monday, January 27, Mix was honored at the Big East Co- Player of the Week. The accolades follow a week in which Mix helped the No. 20 Wildcats upset No. 13 Penn State as well as collect a double-double in a losing effort to Big East rival No. 23 Notre Dame. This is the first time in her career Mix has earned the weekly award and the first honor given to a Wildcat this season. In Thursday's game against Penn State, the junior guard helped Villanova overcome a nine-point second half deficit en route to a thrilling 73-66 overtime win. In 45 minutes of action, Mix tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots. Four of Mix's points came in the last minute of regulation, sending the contest into overtime. Two days later, Mix netted 13 points to go along with 13 rebounds in the Wildcats' 58-56 loss to the Irish. The effort was Mix's third double-double of the season and the fourth of her career. For the week, Mix averaged 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and 2.5 steals in two games against ranked teams.

We congratulate Courtney on her achievements, and proudly support the Villanova P.A.W.S. program. For additional information regarding P.A.W.S., contact Villanova University at (610) 519-4605.
