Villanova Athletics is proud to present the Villanova P.A.W.S program: Providing Athletes With Support. The P.A.W.S. program helps to ensure the best quality experience for Villanova student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the playing fields. Wildcat student-athletes represent the best in athletic and academic achievements, and Villanova is proud to recognize these student leaders.
This week's P.A.W.S. honors go to the Wildcat's Rebecca Koch, a junior swimming & diving standout from Sugarland, Texas, and Clements High School. At the 2003 Big East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships held on Feb. 20-22, at the Goodwill Games Pool in East Meadow, N.Y., Becky won two Big East titles, shattered one meet record and recorded three NCAA "A" cuts, en route to earning Big East Conference Female Swimmer of the Year honors. On Thursday, Feb. 20, Koch set a BIG EAST Championship record and posted an NCAA "A" Cut in the prelims of the 500 yard freestyle. Later in the day, she rewrote the record books one more time in the finals. Koch bettered her mark set earlier in the day by over two seconds, posting a winning time of 4:42.19 in the 500 free. Koch won her second Big East title of the meet on Saturday, Feb. 22, finishing first in the women's 1650 yard freestyle with a NCAA "A" Cut time of 16:24.74.
We congratulate Becky on her achievements, and proudly support the Villanova P.A.W.S. program. For additional information regarding P.A.W.S., contact Villanova University at (610) 519-4605.
