Art Raimo found success as both a student-athlete and a head coach at Villanova, where he was a member of the football team from 1935-37 and later was the Wildcats head coach from 1951-53.  He was inducted to the Villanova University Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1976 and was later inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1980.

Raimo was a fullback for Villanova during his playing days and was a member of teams that combined to go 22-4-2 (.821) during his career.  That record included the 1936 squad going 7-2-1 and traveling to Havana, Cuba to play in the Bacardi Bowl where the Wildcats and Auburn played to a 7-7 tie.  One year later, Villanova reeled off an unbeaten season with an 8-0-1 record in 1937.

After graduating in 1938 with a degree in Education, Raimo played semi-professional football for two years before beginning a career as a teacher and football coach at Ridley Township High School.  He eventually became the Wildcats head coach in 1951 and led the team to a 5-3 record in his first year on the sideline, including a 41-18 win at Alabama as well as victories over Army, Penn State, Houston and Detroit.  Wins over Kentucky and Clemson highlighted a 7-1-1 record during the 1952 campaign.

Raimo was 16-10-1 (.611) overall during his tenure as Villanova head coach.  He was also the athletic director from 1952 to 1953.  He left the Wildcats to become the defensive coordinator at Yale from 1954-62, where he was on the staff of head coach and fellow Villanova alumnus Jordan Olivar.  Raimo later returned to the Philadelphia area and was the head coach at Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University) from 1964-66.
