Tony Valentine was a two-time All-American, a six-time BIG EAST champion and a seven-time IC4A champion during his Villanova career.  He competed in the sprints for the Wildcats and was inducted to the Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2006.
 
Valentine is the school record holder in the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:12.5 set on December 7, 1985 in a meet at Lehigh.  He also was a part of school-record performances in the 4x400 meter relay both indoors and outdoors, as well as the mile relay indoors.  He ran the second leg of each of those relays, including on the mile relay squad with posted a time of 3:07.79 at the Eastman Kodak Invitational on January 18, 1986.  Later that same year, Villanova ran the 4x400 relay in 3:07.84 in the preliminary heats at the NCAA Championships.  The outdoor school record of 3:02.95 in the 4x400 relay was set on June 7 of that year in a fourth place finish in the final at the NCAA meet.
 
During the outdoor track & field season, Valentine was a BIG EAST champion in the 400 meter hurdles three straight years from 1984-86.  He also ran on conference champion 4x400 relays in each of those seasons, anchoring the relay team in 1984 and running the second leg of the race in both 1985 and 1986.  Valentine’s two career All-America honors both came outdoors, as he was part of the 4x400 relay squad which finished fourth at the 1986 national championships and added a seventh place individual finish in the 400 meter hurdles in 1988.  He also was an IC4A champion in the 400 meter hurdles three straight years from 1984-86 and was a part of IC4A titles in the 4x400 relay in 1984 and 1985.  Valentine won a Penn Relays title in 1986 as the second leg of the Wildcats champion 4x400 relay team.
 
Valentine was a three-time All-BIG EAST performer indoors, including individually in the 400 meters in 1984.  He also ran the third leg of the 4x400 meter relay in 1984 and anchored the squad in 1987.  Villanova also won IC4A titles in the mile relay in 1984 and 1986, with Valentine running the second leg of the relay each time.
 
Valentine ranks second on the Wildcats all-time performance list in the 400 meter hurdles.  His personal best time of 49.67 came on May 22, 1988 in the final of the IC4A meet in New Haven, Conn.  The mark of 49.67 represents the seventh-fastest overall time in school history.
