Bob Loscalzo was a two-sport athlete at Villanova who starred for the baseball team and was also a member of the football squad.  He graduated in 1983 and was inducted to the Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1996.

Loscalzo is the Wildcats all-time leader in batting average and slugging percentage among players with at least 250 career at bats.  He played for Villanova from 1979-81 and was a .424 hitter with a .470 on-base percentage and a .736 slugging percentage over 76 games.  Loscalzo is the program’s all-time leader with 15 career triples and is tied for 20th with 15 home runs.  His career totals included 81 runs scored, 94 runs batted in and 22 doubles.

In addition to his career statistical rankings, Loscalzo tied the Wildcats single-season record with eight triples during the 1981 season.  He recorded the second-highest single-season batting average in school history (minimum 100 at bats) when he hit .479 (56-for-117) during the 1980 campaign, and he also hit .435 (54-for-124) in 1981.  Those seasons represent two of the nine instances in which a Villanova player batted at least .400 for a season.

Loscalzo was a part of Wildcats teams that combined to go 57-28 (.671) during his career.  The 1980 and 1981 teams each advanced to the ECAC South Division playoffs, with the 1981 squad defeating Richmond for what was then the program’s second postseason victory ever and first since the 1952 NCAA Region II playoffs.

Loscalzo was a 23rd round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1981 and went on to play six years in the minor leagues in the Pirates and Indians organizations.  He appeared in 423 minor league games and batted .293 with a .401 on-base percentage, a .422 slugging percentage, 221 runs scored and 176 RBI.

As a Villanova football player, Loscalzo was a member of the 1978-80 teams.  During the 1979 campaign he completed 5-of-15 passes for 102 yards and also rushed 15 times for 27 yards.
