Bergmann played for the Wildcats from 1998-01 and was a winner of Villanova Athletics prestigious Sister Mary Margaret Cribben Award her senior year. She was inducted to the Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2019.

Villanova won at least 11 games in all four of Bergmann’s collegiate seasons and compiled an overall record of 49-34 (.590) during her career. The team played in the ECAC Tournament in 1998 and 2000 as well as the BIG EAST Championship in 1999 and 2001. Bergmann was a senior on the 2001 team which advanced to the final of the BIG EAST Championship and a two-year team captain for the 2000 and 2001 seasons.

At the time of her graduation, Bergmann ranked fifth in school history with 24 career assists. She recorded three multi-assist games during her senior year and was a first team All-BIG EAST selection to go along with earning first team NFHCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors for the 2001 season. Bergmann’s other all-conference selections included second team All-BIG EAST laurels in 2000 and being named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team in 1998.

Bergmann had one of the best games of her collegiate career in the 2001 BIG EAST semifinals against Boston College. Playing on the Eagles home field in Chestnut Hill, Mass., Bergmann recorded 10 of the Wildcats 15 shots on goal and scored game-tying goals late in both the first and second halves. Villanova eventually went on to win the game, 3-2 in double overtime, and advanced to the championship game the next day. Bergmann tied the game at 1-1 with 2:43 to go before halftime and knotted the score at 2-2 on her second goal with 8:04 remaining in regulation.

During her senior year Bergmann became the first Villanova player to be selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week twice in the same season when she earned the honor on October 8 and October 29. In addition to her efforts on the field, Bergmann was a four-time selection to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and a three-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad.
